I made another block because my sampler quilt layout will have 16 rather than 12 blocks. I'm not sure this one's a keeper, though. It might be too fussy or not the right scale to match with the rest of the blocks. Here's both together - what do you think?
I love them both. But I don't have enough experience to tell if it will work yet with the first block. Lovely though. Really lovely. =)
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the scale either (for the sampler), but it is really pretty. I could see that first block, repeated in variations of those colors in a quilt top of it own. I like the amount of light colored background and the level of contrast. Wouldn't that be pretty in reproduction prints?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've seen that block pattern before. Do you know what it's called? As far as whether it "fits" with the first block, I think only time will tell. I think if you reversed the light and dark positions, it would fit just fine. BUT maybe if you keep that in mind for future blocks and reverse some of the others so that lights are the focus, they'll all fit together nicely--and it depends on the setting and the balance.
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks. I'm keeping an eye on you both as this looks like fun! I think maybe one is an 8 block and the others are 9? Maybe that is why it looks different?
ReplyDeleteI think I need to see more blocks to see how they all go together. Right now the balance of colors is "off" but if there are more blocks I'll be able to see it better.
ReplyDeleteI like the second block better, but over all I think you will be suprised as to how peasing you will find this quilt when it is all put together.
ReplyDeletenice blocks and I like the choice of colours.....I will be following the progress
ReplyDeleteOh, I like the way that pinwheel shows in the middle.
