Quilt show inspirations

Ozquilt_2There were, of course many inspiring works of art at a show of this size, but I took photos of these two which were my favorite and destined to be a future project. The first was made with a collection of fabrics from her trip to Australia, but I just love the flying geese pattern and the way she did her borders. I think this is a great scrappy quilt, which is of course *MY* favorite kind!

The second quilt was in a merchant's booth, although they did not have a kit or even a pattern for sale. I Batikwas able to buy a few of the Robert Kaufman Potpourri fabrics and will make this one at some point in these colors, but perhaps bigger and using a different pattern - maybe even the flying geese pattern above? At any rate, I fell in love with these fabrics!

  2. I can see why you fell in love with those Kaufman fabrics -- just too much fun. As for the pattern -- I SWEAR I've seen it before. Maybe an Atkinson designs pattern?

  4. mmmm, I like that flying geese quilt. More incentive to hang onto scraps! I too was bit by the Potpourri bug - it is such a diverse line. I got the dots over the gradated background, the blender floral and the large flower heads over circles. Wish we had the cut-out stripes.

  7. OK, Lisa, you are becoming a very bad influence, lol. I, too, love the flying geese pattern, because I, too, like scrappy quilts. Holler when you get around to doing it, I may join you. I have some fabric that would be perfect for it. And the other one is pretty too, but Cindy won't let me do small quilts, LOL
