My DD got braces yesterday! Things have sure changed since I was a teenager and had braces. Now they start them much younger (she's only 8). And it's not silver bands surrounding the entire tooth like in the 'old days.' She even gets to pick the color each time she goes to have them adjusted. She started out with her favorite color - blue - and is already planning her seasonal orthodontic wardrobe (orange & black for Halloween). She already has a winning smile, doesn't she? :)
That was my favorite part was getting to change the colors. She's so cute. How long is she supposed to have them? I was supposed to have mine for 2 years and ended up doing 3.
ReplyDeletei remember my braces, and I never got colors. I did not want to atract attention to them, so I always got clear or grey.
ReplyDeleteShe's a cutie for sure! I never had braces but my daughter did and she never got to pick colors so the that experience is becoming more positive now a days. Nancy in WI
ReplyDeleteShe is A cutie I love the colour very trendy I never had Braces but some of my children did Silver ones they hated them.
ReplyDeleteHugs Mary.
Look at that dazzling smile! How cool that she gets to pick her colors. I had full metal bands too. UGH!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable she is! The colored bands are a great idea. When I was a kid they were horrible metal things. Just tell her to brush really well. I never did and came to regret it big time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie with her new accessories. My daughter's dentist told us last visit we may be in for some ortho when she gets a little bigger. I was thinking teenager, but looks like I need to think sooner.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter used to change her colors every month too when she had braces. They have quite a few colors to choose from. There were some colors that were bad, they just made it look like you had food stuck in your braces. LOL
ReplyDeleteDarling!
ReplyDeleteShe is such a cutie!!! And those eyelashes, wow!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! She's so neat. I'm not surprised of course. Hereditary Love, *karendianne.
ReplyDeletewhat?? braces at 8!!! Mine son is 11 and we haven't started yet! But..he has a dentist appt this next thursday and almost all of his molars are out...so I'm sure thats where we head to next! GREAT! He'll be cute...I'm just NOT ready for the bills! Your daughter looks sooo darn cute!!! I was so excited when I had my braces!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a winning smile for someone who probably has a pretty sore mouth!
ReplyDeleteI was suppose to have mine for 2 years, but only needed them for 9 months.
Just remember to keep wearing the retainer (at least at night) for A LONG TIME after getting the braces off. My braces were for an overbite, my teeth wound up more crooked (though only I notice it) than before because I didn't wear my retainer long enough!
She looks so sweet and happy! My 8 YO is getting braces next month. I haven't broken the news--we thought she might just need a palate expander initially, so mom has some explaining to do (mainly feeling bad about the pain thing). This will likely be the first of two rounds of brace$. So glad I saw your post!
ReplyDeleteHow are her teeth now? One thing I've noticed with kids these days is how they give importance for their dental health. Braces are now becoming an accessory these days. Perhaps media is a factor. It's a good thing that dentists now offer more convenient ways of perfecting teeth. My niece just got her braces off when I visited her in Murfreesboro, TN last season.
