I want to thank everyone who commented on my last batik challenge post. I was really doubting myself on this one, but with so much reassurance from all of you, I forged ahead. When I started to get the flying geese units up together with the background sections and setting triangles, I really began to enjoy this quilt! I even contemplated calling in sick a day or two last week (but didn't!) just so I could work on it some more.
I think the borders will really pull this all together too, but it's looking good so far, and my DD is already asking if she can have the finished quilt on her bed.
I think it's looking great!
ReplyDeleteI'm not normally a Batik fan, but this is great! Keep goin' girl.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! I love how this is coming together. I loved it with the first picture you posted, but NOW....holy cow is this awesome. I am going to have to remember this color combo for sure! Is the background more orange or yellow? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're moving forward on this, Lisa - it's really coming alive!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Lisa, this is amazing. I'm never surprised by your work so I can't say that but I think the color and the pattern is really taking me over the top. If DD wants this one I'll have to give up any ideas of theifin', too. Sheesh. The things I sacrifice for you! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't say enough about this quilt! I LOVE it!!

The darker flying geese are really pulling the quilt into high gear! Pretty!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I was very fortunate to take two classes from Laurie Shifrin a few years back. Her books are beautiful. I can't get enough. I made this quilt in blues, but I think yours is ten times more stunning. Yours is absolutely DIVINE and I'm getting the itch to make a new one! ;) I can't wait to see this come together. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteWhen this is finished, you must send Laurie Shifrin a photo of it. Stunning. I don't have enough superlatives in my vocabulary to do it justice.
ReplyDeleteHey you, wanna go to the Long Beach International Quilt festival with me in July?
ReplyDeleteMom is on the fence. But I have a room with 2 double beds! The class catalog isn't out yet, but dont' you think you need another vacation to California???
That is such a happy quilt, and very creamsicle! YUM!
ReplyDeleteOrange Berry Blast! I love the name! Actually I love everything about this quilt! It's audacious and exuberant and joyous in that kind of "I'm busting out all over and I can't help myself... I'm just so happy!" kind of way! I think I may have to go shopping for some pink and orange batiks! Great job, Miss Lisa D.!
ReplyDeleteI am not usually a big fan of Batiks and orange for that matter, but I love this quilt. It is looking so yummy!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I'm absolutely loving it!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! I can't wait to see it complete! graet fabric!
ReplyDeletecheers,

The sunshine is streaming through my computer screen!! Look at all that lovely warmth. That is the perfect name for the quilt, too. Gorgeous, Lisa! How could you ever doubt yourself?
