I made an ironing board cover this weekend using a fun decorator weight Moda print. Do you recognize it? It's from the MoMo Wonderland collection.
I used this Moda Bake Shop tutorial for instructions, but I did not sandwich and quilt this, it's just one layer of the decorator weight fabric.
My "board" (hey du-u-u-de, do I sound like a surfer?) gets a lot of use and I like using lots of steam in my iron, so I imagine in a few hours, this will look as icky as the one I have on it now, so I will save this to take to my quilt retreat. We leave one week from tomorrow and this will look great on my ironing board!
Lisa - you are the "Ma'am". I love your board cover!

Lisa it is just WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour board is amazing, I love it! It will be the talk of the retreat I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteSo where does one get this decorator weight fabric...that sounds perfect for an ironing board cover. I really need to replace mine, having a pretty one makes it all the more fun!
Fantastic cover. If I made one I would hate to use it because it would get all dirty.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have to save it for a retreat too! LOL!
Right on!!! Love it. One week from tomorrow you'll be making a lot of gals happy. Just like you to do that, too. :) Any ideas what you might bring along on retreat?
ReplyDeleteI love it! I love the retro look of it! Decorator weight fabric? That's great! Thanks for posting the link to the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteMy life changed for the better when a friend gave me a new pretty ironing board cover. My heart lightens everytime I look at it!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find the heavy weight Moda fabric? My cover is still in great shape, but I know the day will come when I need a new one.
Duuuuude, your board is totally awesome. =)
ReplyDeleteOh, this is THE perfect fabric for an ironing board cover!
ReplyDeleteWell, I left my comment under the wrong post. But this just gives me another chance to say I LOVE THAT IRONING BOARD COVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow bright and cheerful. I need to re-cover my old stained June Laylor with the very in-accurate measuring tape printed on it. I think I have just right fabric for it too! Yea!! :)Thanks for the inspiration, Lisa.
ReplyDeleteOOps I mean June Taylor..must watch for typos..lol
ReplyDeleteOh, the retreat gals will be green with envy over your cute ironing board cover - I know I am!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Lisa, that is sooooo cute!!!!!!! I want to make one exactly that yours!!!
ReplyDeleteso how does it look now? up for posing or sending an updated pic?? I have the same problem - get/make something new and then a few days later it look icky! I was thinking about getting a new, fancy iron - hoping that would help - likely I am just being naive.
