Kinda finished...

I got the blocks put together with sashing for the Fat Quarter Shop's 2010 Designer Mystery Block of the Month featuring the cute Kate Spain 12 Days of Christmas fabrics from Moda.  I'm undecided about a border - whether to do one or call it done.   I liked the finishing kit designed by Brenda Riddle, but I'm thinking it's more blue than I want in a Christmas quilt.   Plus, I'd really like to take the lazy route and call it done.  Opinions?

  1. Cute!!! I think a border would be fun...or just a small cream border with a scrappy binding to add color at the edges?!

  2. It sure is cute...I agree with Sherri...just a little something would be great.

  3. I'm lazy too. A wide, red binding would be enough for me.

  4. Very cute! Lazy is fine but I also like the already-mentioned ideas.

By the way, how are the Blitzen stockings coming along? I can't wait to see those.

  5. Love the quilt, but I am sad for the still beakless cardinal. I know you want to call it done, but I think it needs a little somethin-somethin to frame it in. Red would be great or green. I agree with Amy that a binding would be fine, just don't leave the poor bird without a beak or you'll never hear the end of it. Congradulations on another cheerful quilt.

  6. Super cute! I think it needs a border though. Even if you don't use the pre-planned border with the blue, maybe a wide red or green border in a large print would work better.

  7. I'm a little late to the party. . . .but I think that with the sashing going around the outside of the blocks you can call it done. IMHO using a red for a binding (and maybe doing a little wider than usual) would set it off enough.

I hadn't noticed that the cardinal was beakless until I read the other responses --- I also think a beak would be good before quilting.

    Lovely quilt!

  10. This pattern is out of print I have written The Fat Quarter Shop for it. IF you are willing to sell your pattern please let me know. Rachael it is the 2010 Designers Mystery BOM Quilt from the Fat Quarter shop. You might write them and see if they will do a reprint. Maybe if enough people do that they may consider.
