Granny Squares

I started a new quilt using Moda's Chez Moi fabrics and this cute pattern designed by Barbara Brandeburg.  (Great service from Quilter's Warehouse, in case you haven't ordered from them before - fast and very inexpensive shipping!)  Here are my first few blocks.  Although my dh looked at them and said "You're not really going to use those fabrics TOGETHER are you?"  I really love the way they look.  It's too bad this photo doesn't show the true beauty of these lovely fabrics together. The Chez Moi line has just enough of the 'near solids' to tone down all the wild prints in the line.  Each print is more scrumptious than the next!  Is it wrong that I want to call in sick so I can stay home and make more blocks?

  1. That's a PERFECT pattern for that fabric. Cute, cute, cute! On our way to the retreat week before last we made a quilt shop stop and I spotted a fat quarter bundle of that fabric. I picked it up and carried around the store trying to convince myself that I needed to own it. My friends were encouraging me however in the end I put it back. :-( LOL
Is it wrong to call in sick to "play" - oh I think we all need a mental health day! What the heck!

  2. Those fabrics look great in that pattern! Can't wait to see more.

  3. Those are lovely! I am glad you are using them together. Can't wait to see the whole thing.
I truely believe that if I don't get enough sewing time I suffer fabric withdrawl and become ill. Therefore, no, it is not wrong to call in sick to spend quality time with fabric -- especially Moda.

  4. Cute, cute, cute!!! Those fabrics show to a total advantage in that pattern! OMG Lisa, that is incredible. No wonder all you want to do is stay home and sew. The block construction looks easy as pie too. I didn't even think I LIKED Chez Moi until now. You have really opened my eyes to a great possibility.

  5. Cute as can be...and I'm with Darlene...a mental health day is always a good thing.

  6. Hey there kick mistress, you rock!
    love your fabric sensibility.
so glad to know about you and your blog.
thanks for letting me see what you are up to.

  7. That is going to be simply wonderful!

  8. No it's not wrong to want to call in sick. Here I am waiting for my Chez Moi fabrics to arrive (still out on the truck) and am bummed that I didn't order that pattern until today. ACK! What will I do with my time. ;-)

  9. I love this line, but sadly I don't think our shop will have it. I don't think it's too wild at all!
