First day

Yesterday was my first shift at the quilt shop.  My first task was to help a customer pick out fabrics to go with some she already had, and the rest of the afternoon I got to cut, ring up customers, organize the batiks, cut FQs to fill in the empty baskets.  Fun stuff!  I got to "pet" so much fabric yesterday that I wasn't tempted to buy anything.  I'll be working every Thursday evening and one or two Sundays a month.  Fun times!

  1. I also work at a small quilt shop. I'll be interested to see how you like it. I love it but it is a lot of work for us. It's just the owner and myself and she has another part-time job so often, it's just me. We do a lot of regional shows and our Shop Hop starts next week. Are we entirely prepared? NO!

  2. How fun! It's been a long time since I helped out in our LQS. I miss it...I actually found when I was cutting fabric that even though I knew her stock pretty well, somebody would always bring up something I didn't remember seeing...and of course, I thought I had to have some of it. LOL.

  3. Isn't it fun to help pick out fabric? Plus you get to see other people's projects. My downfall is the new fabric - I always want something - so I try and wait a few times to see if I still like it and then I get it.

  4. I love the picking out of fabric for customers. It feels like shopping without having to spend a dime! :-)
