I didn't get any "fun" sewing done this weekend. Instead, I spent time doing some chores to get partially-done projects a little further along. I picked up my quilt that I'm calling Swing Your Partner from the longarm quilter on Friday and wow - she outdid herself with a pantograph called Feathered Curls. I don't have even a fraction of Nicole's photography talent, but here is the quilt on our king-sized bed.
While I was sewing this one, I didn't think I would like the pastel colors of Moda's Faded Memories fabrics in my home. I liked the fabrics - don't get me wrong - but it's not my decorating style. I do absolutely LOVE the finished quilt, though and will absolutely find SOMEWHERE to put this one.
I made this using Miss Rosie's Allemande pattern and 3 charm packs from the Faded Memories collection (2 packets of prints and 1 of plaids). I also purchased yardage of a background fabric (Lakehouse Frosted dots in both white and champagne colors) and yardage for the large pinwheels and matching borders. Isn't the quilting stunning?
So my weekend "chores" included making the binding for this quilt and the last quilt I picked up from the quilter but hadn't gotten around to binding yet.
I also attached the borders to my Granny Squares quilt and here's a picture of it, although again, my photography leaves a lot to be desired. I want to have this one quilted with an allover spiral design, but must wait until I have a little extra spending money - like maybe when I get my first quilt store paycheck!
Swing your Partner is beautiful. Chez Moi is so pretty - I finally found a pattern to use with Chez Moi. Someday soon!
ReplyDeleteSwing Your Partner is gorgeous! You can always send it to me. ROTFL!!! ;-) Granny Squares is beautiful. I can't wait to see the spiral design. I'm sure it will be perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! I absolutely LOVE the granny squares. Can't wait to see it quilted. i understand about the paycheck issue. I finally found a quilter for my snakes quilt, and she's so backed up, I won't have to actually pay for it for like 6 months!
ReplyDeleteLisa, your two quilts are stunning. What a quilting job your quilter did on Allemande! The use of that coral print in Allemande was such a good choice--very effective in standing on its own, and such a great contrast to the smaller more pastel pinwheels. Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove that even quilts can fall into the "chore" category. Just found your blog and think it's great.... ;)
ReplyDeleteThat granny square quilt is just fantastic. The black sashing really makes it!
ReplyDeleteJust did the ValleyGirl tri yesterday. Man, my swim is still just crap. I can't seem to keep my shit together when swimming in the lake. Very frustrating. I am trying to decide how much I care. After the one I am signed up for next month, my brief tri career may be over. ;)
I love the way Swing Your Partner turned out - the darkness of the large pinwheels balances the pastel.
ReplyDeleteWe love the Faded Memories line and anything from 3 Sisters. We have their Roman Holiday line now and loved Chocolat. They have the touch, don't they? This is beautiful and the quilted feathers are gorgeous. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get a minute, can you tell me how you manage to make your photos on the blog very small (and not taking up so much space) but when you click on them they enlarge really nicely? Mine don't get very big when you click on them. And then you can't really see much detail.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Marne
Love your faded memories quilt. I still really wish I had bought some of that line. BTW -- don't you just LOVE the Lakehouse frosted dots??? I really think I need to buy about a bolt of the white on white. Not that I can afford it, but still :0). Love Grandma's Squares too -- let's hear it for the quilt shop check!
