Blended Quilt, Week 5

VdquiltOnce again I am posting to say I have made no progress on my challenge quilt this week.  I'm working hard to try and get a sample done for the shop this week, so perhaps I will have time to make some blended blocks this weekend.  Then again, maybe not.  I only have 7 more star blocks to make, and then I can start laying out my quilt, but I'm nowhere near as far along with my project as Cindy, Perry and Nicole.  Oh well, it's not a COMPETITION or anything, is it, girls?

Pictured above is the shop sample I've been working on.  Only 2 more rows and borders and it will be finished.  I think it's extremely cute, and simple to make, although I am strip piecing the sides of the churn dash blocks rather than cutting individual pieces like the pattern directs.  It saves a lot of time and fabric that way, I think.

Dell Something else that may hinder my quilting progress is this baby.  I used the money earned from my editing job in December to buy a Dell laptop.  I would have gotten it in ORANGE if that was an option, but instead, the family consensus was for Spring Green.  Pretty, huh?  Of course, the mouse and wireless router are arriving under seperate shipment, so it will be a few days until we are fully functional.  Wish me luck - I speak Mac and this is our first home PC.  I use a PC at work, but there I have an IT crew to set everything up for me.  Here I am dealing with my own security issues and wireless router, etc.  It's all so overwhelming!

  1. There are no quilt police and you're right, its not a competition so you're good!!!
This piece you're working on for the shop is adorable. I didn't like those fabrics until I saw what you did with 'em. Most excellent.
And happy happy happy on the new Laptop!

  2. I wouldn't worry about our challenge, Lisa. I am right there with you on being behind. I don't know whether I will manage to work on mine this week or not. We will get ours done when we get them done. Your sample is going well, and it is really cute. Good luck on your computer. Maybe your IT crew at work would set it up for you? I finally, as of a little bit ago, have all of the components of mine working together again, thank goodness. It only took 2 weeks to get it all back together, lol.

  4. I love your new baby!!!! And wireless is wonderful...
Oh, challenge-smallenge - you're so fast, you'll be caught up in no time. I love the sample, can't wait to see it finished. In one of the more recent mags there's a quilt with all sizes of churn dash blocks and I think it's in my future.

  6. Hey, we will just do what we can, right? It isn't a race, that is for sure. I love your sample quilt for the shop! I adore Sandy Gervais, and even like her panels. If you don't love this quilt as much as I do, you know where I live!

  8. I just LOVE that quilt - it's so pretty and happy! What a great idea to strip piece the churn dash blocks, too! I am all for saving time - it lets you move on to another wonderful project sooner!
I am looking forward to hearing how you like your new computer. We are going to be getting a laptop in the near future, too, so I'm very interested! If you have any questions about security issues or whatever, I'm sure my son would be happy to help you.
