Progress!

Bom I still haven't figured out which quilt project to dive into next, so in the meantime, I decided to work on 2 of my BOM projects.  I finished Block #3 of the Designer Mystery BOM from Fat Quarter Shop.  And I completed the first 5 blocks of my Let's Go Dotty/Mary Engelbreit BOM from Inbetween Stitches in Livermore, CA.  The blocks are cute and I like the ME fabrics, but I am disappointed that the shop is making a lot of substitutions that are *not* Mary Engelbreit fabrics.  I took a photo of the quilt when I was there and made an 8x10 print of it, so I am able to see which fabrics were used in the shop sample and replicate them with my stash.  Still, I am receiving and paying for fabric that I will not use and it chaps my hide that this quilt was misrepresented.

So now both BOMs are caught up until my September blocks arrive.  Whee!  This is the first time I've ever been on top of a monthly program and I feel almost giddy!  Since I still don't have a clear idea in mind for my next project, I'm seriously leaning towards finishing my Web Sampler quilt - GASP!   Stay tuned for that one!

  1. Those ME blocks are cute but I know what you mean about getting substitute fabrics in your BOM's, very disappointing when that happens. Gasp! I was thinking the same thing about Web Sampler as I was ironing tonight...must be something to do with that full moon! Nancy in WI

  2. That block that has the green dotted fabric and the blue dotted fabric, those two fabrics remind me of a blanket I have that I have had since I was a baby

  3. I love your blocks...I'm with you...when you sign up for a BOM you're signing up for the patterns and the fabric that you see.

  4. Love the blocks and like everyone else, I agree about the BOM thing. You are buying what you see, not substitutes.
Look at you go on the Designer Mystery, I'm behind all 3 months as usual! ;~)

  6. Lisa, I haven't started my BOM project yet, but plan to next week. (I know, the point is a Block a Month) I had not noticed they were not all the same fabrics as ME. I decided to do the same sampler, from your original post about it! Which fabrics are replacements?? i didn't actually see the real quilt in person, and I am only going by your photo.

  7. I am gasping; you might go back to working on the Web Sampler? lol...well, there is no way I am going to be finished with mine by the time we are supposed to be, lol. I think I will take that clock off of my blog when it is Sept 1, and that way it won't bug me. Maybe you and I will get ours done one of these days. I agree about the switch out of fabrics; have you complained to the store about it? I certainly would have a fit if I were you, lol.

  8. Oh my friend, I am so far behind on reading my favorite people's blogs. I love the ME blocks you have made. I still think you should write or phone up the quilt shop and tell them how you feel about their substitutions. They should have made that clear that they didn't have the fabrics as shown in their shop sample.
This weekend I am going to make my Designer Mystery blocks. I want to finish all three and get caught up! Love this latest one.
