Good, clean fun!

Soaps I'm sorry that my blog has been absent of anything quilt-related - our entire family has been immersed in making soap for a school project for most of November and December.  Our elementary has a Sixth Grade Marketplace every year where each student creates their own business to sell goodies to their classmates and parents to raise money for a 2-day Urban Adventure field trip in May.   We decided on handmade soap for our project, and making 116 bars of soap truly was a family effort!

Sadly, the weather interfered with Marketplace and instead of having 2 days to pitch and sell their products, my boys only had one day due to snow closing school the last 3 days before winter break.  They didn't sell as many as we had hoped, sadly.  But they looked awfully cute while doing it.  Here are my 2 boys (yes, they really are twins!) and you can see our handmade soaps hanging from the tree and on the table.

Looks like everyone I know will be getting soap for Christmas!   VBG.

  1. Those soaps are so cute. If you have some left, will you sell them?

  2. Those soaps are adorable! Too bad they didn't get more time to sell them. I hope the school takes gets a clue from this and holds the marketplace earlier in December from now on. =)

  3. Such a shame the boys didn't sell too much, but, the main thing is they learned it requires work to make money, lol. Hopefully, they will remember that when they get older. Reminds me of something we did growing up that I can't remember the name of...lol...oh well....I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas Lisa. Maybe next year we will do tree quilts, lol.

  4. Those soaps look great. Any leftovers and have 'em market them online to your quilty gal pals! I promise (for this one time only) no thiefing.
Seriously, sorry they were thwarted by the weather trolls but I'm certain this was and IS a great idea. So just this once you're off the hook for being m.i.a. :)

  5. It is a crazy busy time of year, that is for sure. What a pity the weather interfered with the Marketplace! The boys learned a lot from the experience and now you have gifts on hand for any occasion. So, it is all good!

  6. What neat soaps, Lisa, and so great that the whole family helped! The boys are adorable! We're getting around fine in our Jeep - thank goodness for that, but who knows what will happen when the "big storm" hits later this afternoon! Cheers!
